NEWS: 'American Horror Story' Renewed for Season 2

After rating successes, FX gave a Halloween surprise in horror fans’ Jack O’ Lanterns as they renewed American Horror Storyfor a second season. The series from Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has gained fans from the aforementioned series and by the cast.

The mystery has captivated the audience, and after the jump, we have a press release from FX announcing the pickup, and a statement from the network president.

LOS ANGELES, October 31, 2011 – Fans of American Horror Story got a Halloween treat today from FX as the network placed a second-season order of 13 episodes from Twentieth Century Fox Television, announced John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks.

American Horror Story, created by producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, is the eighth FX drama series to earn a second season order. Nine all-new episodes of AHSremain in the first season airing Wednesdays at 10:00 PM E/P, with the final two episodes airing December 21.

“It’s one thing to have the ambition and guts to reinvent a genre in a way that makes it captivatingly fresh for a broad audience—it’s something else entirely to have the craft to back that ambition up,” said Landgraf. “Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have hit the trifecta with Nip/Tuck, Glee and now American Horror Story, which will be scaring FX’s viewers to death for many years to come.”

AHS is producing outstanding ratings, growing though its first four weeks in the network’s target audience of Adults 18-49. On a Live+7 basis, through two weeks, first-run episodes of AHS are averaging 4.2 million Total Viewers, 2.9 million Adults 18-49, and 1.7 million Adults 18-34. It is currently tracking to become the highest-rated first season of any series ever on FX, certain to surpass Murphy’s award-winning hit dramaNip/Tuck in Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 (2.1 million Adults 18-49; 1.0 million Adults 18-34 – 2003), and also above the award-winning drama Justified in Total Viewers (3.4 million P2+ – 2009).

On a Live+3 basis, last week’s fourth episode was the highest-rated episode of the season in delivery of Adults 18-49 (3.1 million) and Adults 18-34 (1.85 million).

The premiere episode of AHS (most current available) delivered a multi-run telecast audience of 8.0 million Total Viewers, 5.4 million Adults 18-34 and 3.0 million Adults 18-34.

The series premiere episode of AHS (Oct. 5, 10:00 PM) ranked as the #1 for the network among its target demos of Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. It delivered 3.14 million Adults 18-49 and 1.77 million Adults 18-34, which marked enormous gains of +54% and +49% in those demos when compared to the Live+Same Day premiere data. The debut episode of AHS also ranks #1 all-time among FX series premieres in delivery of Women 18-49 and Women 18-34.

American Horror Story airs Wednesdays at 10PM only on FX.

NEWS: Joss Whedon Announces New Film 'In Your Eyes'

Last week, Joss Whedon announced his new film Much Ado About Nothing had reached completion after being filmed in 12 days of secrecy under his own new personal production banner Bellwether Pictures. Today, Whedon has announced that a new picture is headed into development soon by Bellwether Pictures called In Your Eyes.

The movie is a supernatural romance, but that’s all they’re willing to reveal right now. The script is from Whedon himself, and will be directed by Brin Hill.

Joss spoke out in a statement about the project saying:

“When I wrote In Your Eyes, I didn’t have the wherewithal (or the moxie) to make it without an established production house. I believe, as I did then, that it’s a pretty timeless romance, and now, with the creation of Bellwether Pictures (and Brin Hill’s elegant, passionate take on the piece), I have the opportunity to prove it. (I also have a 37% increase in moxie.) I love this team and I can’t wait to see them bring In Your Eyes to life.”

No word yet as to who will be cast in the film, and when exactly production will begin. no release date has been confirmed either.

Whedon just wrapped up The Avengers, which is set for release May 4th, 2012.

PHOTOS: The Dark Knight Rises filming at Trump Towers in NYC

Today, as filming on The Dark Knight Rises draws closer and closer to an end, the cast and crew were spotted outside Trump Towers in New York City. The building had been transformed to appear as Wayne Enterprises, and Bruce Wayne himself Christian Bale was said to either be rolling up or driving away in one of his fancy expensive cars.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also on hand, though what he would be doing with Bruce Wayne is very suspicious. The actor’s role is that off an all-new GCPD officer, and whether he’d be interrogating Wayne is definitely a huge question. Unfortunately, we don’t know Levitt’s role in the scenes filmed today, as the only shot we were able to find was of the actor walking in.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on July 20th, 2012.

VIDEO: Man of Steel star Henry Cavill bearded, shirtless, and filming a rescue scene for the film in Vancouver. Some adult language is used by the men holding the camera.

For weeks now, Man of Steel has been filming in Vancouver, Canada. We’ve set set pictures involvng not just a bearded Henry Cavill as Superman, but also a shirtless bearded Cavill as the American wonder boy. What the beard and sans clothing has to do with anything is definitely a big question, but the latest scene in which the actor has been filming has not.

Mutliple reports confirm that Cavill has filmed a large public scene in Vancouver, covered by green screen, with extras that has Superman saving a group of civilians, getting them within a helicopter, and seeing them fly off. Zack Snyder was seen directing, of course, and the take was done multiple times.

Where filming will go next is undetermined. It’s expected for the production to go back to Chicago, where a Daily Planet globe was last seen being built, in order to film whatever scenes are set within the confines of the Planet.

Man of Steel is set to hit theaters on June 14, 2013.

Last time, we showed you a small glimpse of the characters’ return to American Pie with a red-band trailer that brought some laughs. Now, a more tame trailer has made its way to the internet, showcasing where the gang is now and what they’ve been doing since they’ve last seen each other.

In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

The film stars Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Tara Reid, Natasha Lyonne, Eugene Levy, and Jennifer Coolidge, and is directed & written by Harold & Kumar creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.

American Reunion will be released on April 6th, 2012.
